A walkthrough for getting a family looking at the same daily chart you use in class, without asking them to install an app or remember a password. You create a private access link for one student, share it by QR code, printout, or copied link, and keep control of who can see it over time.
Create the parent access link
Open the student detail page, go to Chart Settings, and use Parent Access Links. Give each link a plain label like Mom, Guardian, or Weekly folder QR so your team can tell at a glance where it was shared. The link opens only the parent portal for that student and active chart, where the family can view the daily chart, see translated labels, and sign logs if signatures are on.
Share the QR code the way that fits the family
Choose Show QR code next to the active link. You can hold the screen up during pickup, print the code for a take-home folder, or copy the link into an email or messaging tool your district already approves. When the chart is going home on paper, place the QR code near the goal summary so the family understands what they are scanning.
Label links so you know who has access
If a student has more than one guardian or you share to a folder and an email, create a separate labeled link for each. Clear labels are what let you revoke one person's access later without disrupting everyone else. This small habit pays off the first time a custody or contact situation changes mid-year.
Revoke and rotate when access should change
If a link reaches the wrong person or the family situation shifts, revoke it from the chart settings and create a fresh one. Revoked links stop working immediately for that parent portal. For sensitive situations, use shorter sharing windows and review active links during your regular chart cleanup so old access does not linger.
