Switching plans in Evident is safe for your data. Whether you upgrade from Free to Pro or move a building onto a School plan, your students, charts, and daily logs come with you.
Upgrading from Free or Pro
Upgrading from Free to Pro happens in your account billing settings. The change applies to the account you are already using, so your existing students and charts gain the new features in place. You do not create a new workspace or move records.
After upgrading, the limits lift and Pro tools like PDF progress reports and evidence packets become available on the charts you already have. Nothing about your daily logs changes except that you can now do more with them.
Joining a School or District plan
Moving onto a School or District plan is usually handled by an administrator who adds you to the building or district workspace. When that happens, your students and history are kept rather than wiped, but the way access is governed shifts to roles.
Talk with your administrator about whether your existing caseload should live under the shared school roster or stay attached to you. The right answer depends on how your team divides students, and it is easier to decide before the switch than to untangle afterward.
Moving to a lower plan
Downgrading is also safe for your data. As covered in the downgrade article, your records are not deleted; certain Pro features are gated until you upgrade again. Export any PDF reports you will need before you step down.
If you are leaving a School plan as an individual, coordinate with your admin so your students are reassigned or archived intentionally rather than left without an owner.
Verify your caseload after switching
After any plan change, open your dashboard and confirm your active students are present and your recent daily logs are intact. This takes a minute and gives you confidence before your next logging day.
If a student or a stretch of logs looks missing, do not start re-entering data. Contact us first. In almost every case the records are present and it is a visibility or role question we can resolve quickly.
Frequently asked questions
Will switching plans duplicate my students?
No. A plan change applies to your existing account. Your students are not copied or re-created, so you will not end up with duplicates.
If my school adds me to their plan, do I lose my caseload?
Your history is kept. Coordinate with your admin on whether your students should move under the shared school roster or stay attached to you.
Is there a re-import step when I upgrade?
No. Upgrading turns on features against the charts you already have. There is no CSV step and no re-entry.
