- Four steps: the behavior, what the FBA suggests, what to teach instead, and how the team will respond and track it.
- Pick from the suggestion chips or add your own wording at every step.
- Print a one-page draft marked Draft for the team to review.
- To keep it, choose sign up or sign in on the builder. The draft stays in that browser for 14 days.
- After you add the student, the FBA / BIP tab offers Start from the draft, which opens the in-app BIP wizard filled in.
The free BIP draft builder at evidentk12.com/bip-builder turns what the team learned from the FBA into a one-page draft plan. It needs no account and nothing you type is sent to a server. A BIP comes from the FBA and the team, so the builder gives you a starting point to bring to that conversation, not a finished plan.
What the four steps ask
Step one asks for the student's initials (initials only), the target behavior, and an operational definition: what an adult would see or hear. Step two asks for the triggers from the ABC data and the team's hypothesized function: escape or avoid, attention, tangible, sensory, or not sure yet if the team is still collecting data.
Step three asks for replacement behaviors that meet the same need, plus prevention and teaching strategies. Step four covers how adults reinforce the replacement behavior, how they respond when the behavior happens, and the data plan: the method, how often, who records it, and a team review date.
The chips use the same wording as the BIP wizard inside Evident, so a draft reads the same way once it moves into the student's record.
Print the draft
The preview builds as you go and prints on one page, labelled Draft for the team to review, with lines for the review date and team members. Anything you skipped shows as a prompt, so gaps are easy to spot before the meeting.
If you are still collecting ABC data, the free printable ABC data sheet records time, setting, antecedent, behavior, consequence, and what the student got or avoided.
Keep the draft with the student's record
Under the draft, choose sign up or sign in. That saves the draft in this browser only, for 14 days, and nothing is sent anywhere until you have an account. If you are already signed in, the sign-in link takes you to the same next step.
After signing in, add the student. The student opens on the FBA / BIP tab, where a banner offers Start from the draft or Discard. Start from the draft opens the BIP wizard with the draft filled in. The initials are left out, because the plan now belongs to the student's record.
Review each step with the team, fill in what the builder does not ask for (such as frequency, intensity, and who is responsible for each strategy), and save. Saving clears the draft from the browser. The BIP builder article covers the wizard, activation, and the PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a finished BIP?
No. It is a draft for the team to review. The plan should come from the FBA data and the team's decisions, and your school's procedures still apply.
Does the builder save what I type?
Only if you choose sign up or sign in, and then only in that browser for 14 days. Otherwise nothing is kept once you leave the page.
I cleared my browser or switched computers. Can I get the draft back?
No. The draft only lives in the browser where you made it. Print it first if you might switch devices.
Does it cost anything?
The builder is free. Inside Evident, writing a BIP works on every plan; exporting the BIP as a PDF is part of Pro and school plans.
