Interval Recording Sheet
A free printable partial and whole interval recording sheet for IEP goals measured as the percentage of intervals a behavior occurred. Free to print, copy, and hand to a paraeducator. No account, no email address.
Use this sheet when the goal reads like
- “will remain on task during 80% of observed intervals”
- “will use appropriate volume during 90% of 1-minute intervals in group work”
Interval recording is the most labor-intensive method on this list and the right one when a behavior is too continuous to count and too variable to time. If you are choosing between methods, it is usually the last one to reach for.
Not sure this is the right method? The method chooser walks through it in two minutes.
Interval Recording Sheet
| Date | Interval | Occurred? | Interval | Occurred? | Interval | Occurred? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Prompt key: I = independent · V = verbal · G = gestural · M = model · PP = partial physical · FP = full physical
- Write your interval length and whether this is partial or whole interval at the top before you begin. The two produce different numbers from the same session.
- Partial interval: mark it if the behavior happened at any point. Whole interval: mark it only if it happened throughout.
- Percentage is marked intervals divided by observed intervals. Note any interval you could not observe rather than scoring it as a no.

When the paper sheet stays on your desk
Paper works right up until the moment happens across the room. If you would rather record the same data point from whatever tab you are already in, Evident Capture is a free Chrome extension that takes about ten seconds, offline included.
